Real Weddings - Lindsay’s Purple and Orange Wedding Flowers
I absolutely loved working on Lindsay’s purple and orange wedding flowers because it was such a daring color scheme – but I think that you’ll agree that it looked absolutely wonderful.
The wedding took place in October and Lindsay was keen to use autumn colors in her flowers and wedding decorations. The color most associated with this season is orange but we decided to give it a modern twist by adding in purple and lime green flowers to her bouquet and ceremony arrangements.
Bride and Bridesmaids Bouquets
I created the bride’s bouquet using orange roses, freesias together with purple lisianthus and veronica.
The green chrysanthemums and hypericum berries completed the look. As well as producing a variety of colors, this choice of choice of flowers provided a rich choice of textures and shapes.
The bride’s bouquet was created as a hand-tied posy style and I fashioned a handle that had a vintage feel to it using hessian and vintage buttons.
The bridesmaids had similar bouquets but smaller in size. These looked absolutely stunning against their deep purple bridesmaid’s dresses. Lindsay was kind enough to send me these great photographs to share.
The Church Wedding Flowers
The marriage took place at St James Church in the grounds of Walton Hall. This is a lovely intimate setting for a wedding. I chose to continue the autumn wedding theme by decorating the windowsills with gourds and church candles with leaf decorations. The candles give a perfect ambiance at this time of year.
At the front of the church I placed two large floor-standing candles that I decorated with flowers that matched the colors of the wedding bouquets.
The Wedding Reception Flowers
Lindsay chose to have classic low centerpieces for her wedding reception. I placed orange roses in goldfish bowls (globe vases) on each of the tables. As a finishing touch I surrounded the vases with romantic tea-lights and sprinkled orange roses petals over the table.
The thank you bouquets were given to the happy couple’s parents during the speeches. I created these to reflect the fall wedding theme. As well as having flowers with similar colors to the wedding theme, I added sycamore leaves to give an autumnal feel.
